Electrical installation work on new-build properties involve two distinct stages, namely first-fix and second-fix. This entails careful planning on behalf of the electrical contractor, together with close cooperation with other trades to ensure that the project runs smoothly without compromising completion dates. We have lots of experience of working with builders and developers on new build installations.
First Fix
Accessory boxes are fixed to the wall and cables are installed around the building ready for plastering. It is important to ensure that cables are selected and installed to comply with current industry standards.
Second Fix
Wiring accessories such as socket outlets, light switches and cooker points are fixed to finished surfaces. A vast choice of accessories are available to suit all tastes both traditional and contemporary. Finally, light fittings, extractor fans etc. are installed following manufacturers instructions.
Test and Certification
Before putting into use, new electrical installations must be fully tested and inspected to ensure that it is safe to do so and that the installation complies with relevant standards. An Electrical Installation Certificate must be issued.
